I am a high school drama teacher based in New Zealand.
I have been teaching for 5 years and I LOVE TEACHING DRAMA – However, being sole charge of the Drama department at my school did prove to be quite isolating – especially as a beginner drama teacher! I didn’t have much to go off of, and asking for advice from other teachers sometimes felt overwhelming.
So I decided to create all of the resources, planning templates, and lesson plans that I wish I had been given when I first started teaching drama.
Drama is becoming a highly popular school subject worldwide, and supports the 21st century learning skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity!
Both of my parents work in education. My mum was a teacher for 30 years and I witnessed how burnt out she became by the time she retired. Even so, I followed my dream of becoming a performing arts teacher, and I LOVE it. But honestly, when I first started I was EXHAUSTED all of the time. I was sole charge of my drama department almost straight off the bat! and I had noooo Idea what I was doing.
I want to prevent you from becoming overwhelmed, by providing the resources you need to feel supported to become the drama teacher you deserve to be! A teacher that is happy, and that doesn’t spend every minute of every day stressing about what they will be teaching next!
